“You can't always get what you want
But if you try sometimes, well, you might find
You get what you need”
In my mind, very few things rival the realities of the public health job hunt like this iconic chorus from the Rolling Stones.
You can’t always get what you want. You can be the epitome of the job description, network your little heart out, and still not get it. No after no after no. It makes you want to scream, rip your hair out, break something.
But then…
You get what you need. You get that one yes that checks all the nonnegotiable boxes. The road to get there isn’t easy, and you may not end up in the position you pictured, but, sooner or later, you will find the right fit.
Right now, it feels like too many of us are in that first line. We feel stuck, ad there are more of us than searching for jobs than ever before. But the song plays on. We will find what we need.
It may not be today or tomorrow, but we cannot lose hope. Until that lucky day, we must push forward and put ourselves out there. Leave no stone unturned!
As always, jobs shared previously can be found here. Questions, feedback, and job leads can be submitted here. And, of course, subscribe and share—we can all get what we need!
