Unsurprisingly, to maintain this platform, I spend an ungodly amount of time on LinkedIn. Scrolling through my feed, I really only look for independent job postings, but, today, something else jumped out at me.
“A bottle of water can be 50 cents at the supermarket, $2 at the gym, $3 at the movies, and $6 on a plane. Same water. The only thing that changed its value was the place…so, the next time you feel your worth is nothing, maybe you’re at the wrong place.”
To me, this beautifully reflects our given moment. In our current tumult, you may have waves of feeling like your public health background is worthless. I’ve been there too. But that’s not true. Like this post says, it’s all about circumstance and context. Our current circumstances may feel like the worth of public health has declined, but there are still places and employers that need and value people like us.
It’s hard to reframe our thoughts and be patient when whole systems are decrying our hard work and passions, but possibilities are still out there. They still persist—we just need to find them and be resourceful to help them find us.
As always, past opportunities can be found here. Questions, feedback, job leads, and success stories can be shared here. And, of course, subscribe and share—together, we can help each other find opportunity and help opportunity find you.

First, thank you for compiling this list of public health jobs--this is very helpful! My federal colleagues and I all lost our jobs as a result of being laid off. Some of us are mid-career (in our 40s and 50s) public health physicians who served in different roles (medical epidemiologists, medical consultants, quality assurance roles, administrative roles, etc.). Does anyone know if there is a public health job board or job listing site on Substack or other site for mid-career public health physicians? Thanks very much for any help!
To the author of Public Health Hiring Help,
Thanks for the information--we will check out the additional sites! Yes, it would be much appreciated if you could add to your posts any websites with job boards/listings for mid career public health physicians. From looking online, we are not finding many job listings in this category.
