61 opportunities to go down the rabbit hole!

You went down a rabbit hole during your doom scroll—following link after link until suddenly you can’t recall how you got to where you are. So often, rabbit holes are unproductive and distracting, but what if there was an instance when it was helpful?

It may come as a surprise, but this is actually a great approach to finding open positions in public health, especially ones that haven’t been publicized as heavily. You see a position that piques your interest (maybe here on PHHH!), you go to the organization’s website to apply, you see what other openings they have or who they collaborate with or similar employers, and suddenly your one job lead has turned into five. You just have to remember to apply to them all!

This is actually one of my favorite ways to find jobs outside of job boards like LinkedIn and Indeed. You let your mind wander and your curiosity take over, finding positions you are truly interested in along the way, or, at the very least, places to check back with periodically for new postings.

So, at least in the context of the job hunt, don’t shut down that instinct to fall down a rabbit hole and see what else there is. You might just find something.
