It’s easy to have your sights narrowed on a certain kind of role for your job hunt, but, in times like these, such a myopic strategy isn’t feasible.
Instead, expand your line of sight. What sort of positions could help you cultivate the skills to get you where you want to go? What could be translated to the role you want? Look for stepping stones to get wherever your sights are set. After all, nowadays, your first (or next) job or company often is not forever—why treat it like it is?
So, open your eyes and mind. There is often more than one path to help you reach goals in your five-, ten-, or twenty-year plan, so don’t be short-sighted and narrow-minded with the path you look for today.
